Improving Your Product Page

If you run an e-commerce site you know the importance of the product page. This is the final page that determines whether you will make the sale or your customer will leave. In this post I’ll explain some of the ways that you can make sure you have the best product page possible.

  • Product. The image(s) of the product is the most important thing on the page. Your product image should be of an average size, with an enlarged version available one click away. There should also be thumbnails of other views of the product as well.
  • Content. Describe your product. Offer certain specs if the product warrants it. Be careful not to write too much. There is a delicate balance between too much and not enough information.
  • Related products. Offer links to products similar to the one they’re viewing. This won’t detract from your site if you place the links (with an image) near the bottom.
  • Call to action. Make it easy for them to purchase your product. Offer an Add To Cart button in a prominent location.
